Welcome to Making Your Lemonade!
My name is Laura and I am so happy that you are here.
If you are serious about personal development, health, and wellness, then you have certainly come to the right place.
This website focuses on intentional living to empower people to live fulfilling and healthy lives and become the very best version of themselves that they can possibly be.
Specifically, you will find healthy, simple, and quick recipes, as well as posts about mindfulness, other self-care practises, and beneficial personal insights I have acquired. I will also offer practical advice and strategies on down-to-earth topics pertaining to self-improvement such as productivity and time-management, organization, minimalism, and habit development, just to name a few.
My Food Philosophy:
1. I personally believe that foods that are low glycemic (low in sugar and carbs) and are naturally found in nature tend to be the healthiest. This belief is reflected in many of the recipes I post, which are often keto, paleo, and/or plant-based, but I am certainly flexible with this to promote the development of a healthy, realistic, and truly satisfying relationship with food.
I am also pescatarian, and so a lot of my recipes are vegetarian or vegan. I strive to attain satiation from my meals and have gone through muscle-building phases, so several of my recipes are high in protein, as well.
2. I believe in making cooking and meal prep as simple and practical as possible to 1) provide you with more time to dedicate to the things in life that really matter to you (unless of course you enjoy regularly spending a long time cooking), and 2) to make the process of sticking to healthy habits easier, more realistic, and sustainable in the long-term.
This is reflected in my tendency to create recipes that are fairly quick to make, require few ingredients, and/or less effort (e.g., oven recipes, etc.), but I am also flexible with this if I find that extra ingredients, time, or effort significantly improve the taste of a recipe, since I refuse to compromise on taste for my website visitors!
3. This leads me to my third point, which is that all my recipes must be delicious! I ensure that this happens by first running my recipes through my picky-eating partner or a family member, and only posting it if it exceeds their high expectations.
I created Making Your Lemonade to:
- Encourage people to prioritize their emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing through regular self-care practises, self-observation, and introspection
- Uplift others and inspire them to recognize the possibilities and capabilities that exist within themselves
- Encourage people to live their lives intentionally through self-awareness, a sense of personal responsibility, and conscious action
- Inspire others to take full responsibility for the choices and actions that are within their control to empower them to carve out their own destiny and live their life to the fullest
- Support people in these ways by sharing my own insights, knowledge, ideas, and experiences that have led me to grow
